Hello, friends, enemies, rivals!

I am here mostly to update you on some new event happenings in the works, and since I am here again, to remind you of the other upcoming things.

First off, I am adding an event in CHICAGO! Yes, another stateside event, rare and coveted! I will be at City Lit Books Tuesday, October 29, 6:30 PM, in conversation with August Clarke, talking about Metal from Heaven, which I have spoken about here before and comes out Oct 22! (Pre-order/order UK/US).

August and I often talk about butchness and lesbian masculinities, and I love the way he writes about these topics in Metal from Heaven, so I’m really looking forward to our conversation. Unfortunately, I don’t believe there will be a virtual option, but if you can’t make it, buy the book, and reach out online. I’ll always be game to talk about it.

Other upcoming events:

  • MCM ComicCon - London - Friday Oct 25, 2024, 1 - 1:45 PM - I’ll be on a panel with Eliza Chan, John Gwynne, Sarah Rees Brennan, and Tasha Suri! I’ll also be signing books after and roaming around the con—say hi!
  • Bloomington Book Festival - Bloomington, IN - Oct 29 - Nov 2, 2024. I’ll be headed back to my MFA stomping grounds to teach a class on worldbuilding and chatting on a speculative fiction panel.
  • In Conversation at Waterstones Brighton with John Gwynne, Thursday Nov 7, 2024, 7 PM - I’ll be hanging out with John Gwynne again, this time talking about The Fury of the Gods (and The Faithless). I just finished the second book in the series and man, talk about epic. I love these characters and the intricacies of their world. It’s gonna be a fun talk.

Books Updates

  • I will also be able to announce secret book soon! I’ve been told possibly next week, but you know the vagaries of these things. Stay tuned!
  • I’ve turned in The Sovereign! With the bulk of the work done. I’m just doing some line editing while my editor reads the draft itself. Hopefully, it’ll be approved an in the production pipeline soon.

That’s all for now.

Stay sharp,

Cherae
